Marjorie E. Schwabenland, 86, of LaMoille passed away Jan. 19, 2015 at Mendota Community Hospital surrounded by her family who loved her very much.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 22 at Community United Methodist Church, LaMoille with Rev. Kevin Weeks officiating. Burial will be at Greenfield Cemetery, LaMoille. Visitation will be from 9:30-11 a.m. on Jan. 22 at the church. Funeral arrangements were handled by the Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota.
Marjorie was born Sept. 12, 1928 in Sublette to Oscar and Maysie (Scott) Ecklund. Babies born at that time at Angier Hospital were known as "Twilight" babies. She married John F. Schwabenland on June 22, 1956 at the LaMoille Methodist Church. He preceded her in death on Sept. 19, 1997.
Survivors include one daughter, Jennifer (Tom) Kindler of Mendota; twin sons, William of LaMoille and Robert (Jenny Marshall) of Earlville; two brothers, Robert Ecklund of LasCruces, N.M. and Marvin (Delores) Ecklund of Peru; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband and two brothers, Clifford and Daryl Ecklund.
Marjorie was a 1946 graduate of LaMoille High School. She worked at the LaMoille Mercantile before beginning a career with the U.S. Postal Service, working at the LaMoille facility for approximately 40 years and serving as postmaster from 1984 until her retirement on Feb. 1, 1990. She was a lifelong member of Community United Methodist Church. She enjoyed traveling, often accompanied by her daughter, and could tell you of her adventures from Mt. Rushmore to Australia. She was often seen happily driving behind the wheel of her PT Cruiser. She also loved her pets.
