Marjorie B. Ufkes, 88, of Peru died March 13, 2008, in Illinois Valley Community Hospital, Peru. Services will be at noon today in St. Johns Lutheran Church, Peru, with the Rev. Timothy Kenyon officiating. Burial will be at Golden Memorial Gardens, Golden, Ill. Visitation is two hours prior to services Saturday in the church. Arrangements were provided by Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota. Mrs. Ufkes was born Feb. 19, 1920, in Sublette to Carl and Clara (Wilhelm) Truckenbrod. She married the Rev. William Ufkes in June 1943 in Mendota. She was a member of St. John?s Lutheran Church in Peru. She was employed by The Mendota Reporter and later by Mendota Lutheran Home as a secretary and receptionist. She is survived by one son, the Rev. David (Linda) Ufkes of Marseilles; one daughter, Ruth (Scott) Hughes of Woodridge; and two brothers, Jack (Angie) Truckenbrod of West Brooklyn and Kenneth (Wanda) Truckenbrod of Sun City, Ariz. She was preceded in death by her husband in January 2001; and one sister. Memorials may be directed to St. John?s Lutheran Church, Peru, or the donor?s choice.
