Martin D.
Eddy
May 4, 1963 – February 7, 2021
Martin D. Eddy, 57, of West Brooklyn passed away February 7, 2021 at OSF St. Anthony's Medical Center, Rockford.
Memorial services will be held in June, with burial at Melugin Cemetery. Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota is assisting the family.
Mr. Eddy was born May 4, 1963 in Mendota to Alan and Leatricia (Tish Withrow) Eddy.
He was a 1982 graduate of Mendota High School. Marty began working at the age of ten as a paperboy in Compton and continued being a dedicated employee in various jobs until his health forced him to stop working. Marty's passion was farming and he lived for harvest time. He helped many area farmers over the years.
Marty was loved and respected by many. He genuinely cared about others and wasn't worried about personal gain. He leaves behind many life-long friends, cherished friendships and wonderful memories. If you were lucky enough to be his friend, he would go to the ends of the earth for you.
Martin is survived by his mother, Tish of Mendota; a sister, Tammy and brother-in-law Jean Gordon of Bradenton, Florida; a niece, Asya (Fred) Stolz of Salt Lake City, Utah; a nephew, Beau (Amanda) Gordon of St. Petersburg, Florida; great-nephews Jackson, Parker and Torin and great-niece, Ailyn Grace; a favorite uncle, Larry Eddy of West Brooklyn and aunt, Vicky Thomas of Ottawa.
He was preceded in death by his father Alan in 2014 and a special dog, Angie.
