Obituary
Marvin "Butch" Swope, 86, of Cement City, Michigan and formerly of Compton, passed away February 26, 2023 at Victorian Villa Assisted Living in Jackson, Michigan.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at the Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota with Rev. Jeff Brace officiating. Burial will be at Restland Cemetery, Mendota. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral.
Marvin was born November 24, 1936 in Compton to Wendell and Elizabeth (Kehm) Swope.
Marvin was a farmer and a master journeyman in machinery repair and HVAC.
Marvin is survived by his sons Rickie Swope of Cement City, Michigan, Lonnie Swope of Dowelltown, Tennessee and Jerrie Swope of Jasper, Michigan. Also his brother Donald "Doc" Swope of Compton; sister, Marilyn "Toots" Ehlers of Princeton and longtime companion, Betty Fry of Mendota.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Lavila Archer and his brothers Elroy Swope and Jerroll Swope.
