Mary Elizabeth Gehant, born on February 6, 1934 in Dubuque, IA, died peacefully on August 25, 2024 in Upton, KY. Known by many as a woman of grace and dedication, Mary was a proud graduate of St. Ambrose College, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She married her loving husband, Edward L. Gehant, on December 29, 1956. Mary's memory will be cherished by her children, Thomas (Tammy) Gehant of Caledonia, IL, Peter (Cynthia) Gehant of Roscoe, IL, Amy (Fenton) Challgren of Perrysburg, OH, and Sarah Gehant of Upton, KY. She was a beloved grandmother to Kyle, Sean, and Michelle Gehant, Nicholas (Alyssa) Challgren, Benjamin (Noel) Challgren, and Jane Challgren. A proud great-grandmother to Jay, Henry, Albert, Lenna, and Daphne. She is also survived by her loving sister, Sr. Patricia Clark, SVM and many caring nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Bertha Clark, her husband, Edward, and her son, Michael Gehant.

Visitation will be held at St Bridget Catholic Church, 600 Clifford Avenue, Loves Park, Illinois, 61111, on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at 9:30am, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30am. Services have been entrusted to Horner-Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota, IL.
