Mary Elizabeth "Beth" Hartley, 86, of Mendota and formerly of Compton, passed away Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at Goldwater Care of Princeton. She was born January 4, 1940, in Chicago, the daughter of John and Sarah (Evans) Hawley. She married Marvin Hartley on November 18, 1961.
Beth was a homemaker most of her life but she also did modeling throughout the years. She loved dogs, especially her two basset hounds. She enjoyed being outdoors, especially when she was working in her garden or sitting on her back patio. Beth was a devout Christian who always made the effort to make it to church whenever she could. She was an avid traveler and was especially fond of the cruise she went on with her husband, Marvin.
Beth is survived by her son, John, of Compton; a grandson, Evan Meyer Hartley; two brothers-in-law, Doug (Jill ) Hartley and Mick (Barb) Hartley; and a sister-in-law, Kathy (Rodney) Atwell.
In addition to her parents, Beth is preceded in death by her husband, Marvin; a son, Robert Alan Hartley; daughter, Brenda Hawley Hartley; and a nephew, Shannon "Sparky" Hartley.
The funeral service will be at 12 noon on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at the Horner-Merritt Funeral Home, 800 Monroe St. in Mendota. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service on Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Melugin Grove Cemetery in Compton.
