Mary Frances Eleanor (Smith) Niewinski, 77, of LaMoille died Aug. 13, 2007, in her home after a two-month illness. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota, with the Rev. Kevin Weeks officiating. Private burial of ashes will be at Greenfield Cemetery, LaMoille, at a later date. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Mrs. Niewinski was born March 4, 1930, in Elmwood to Samuel Lee and Grace (Ingle) Smith. She married John Wheeler on April 1, 1951. He died Feb. 14, 1978. She married Joseph Niewinski on July 20, 1980, in the Congregational church of Spring Valley. She was employed by File Drapery Shop in LaMoille for many years and worked at Wayside Press in Mendota for 25 years before retiring. She is survived by her husband, Joseph; one son, John Richard (Carol) Wheeler of LaMoille; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Rosie (Eugene) Renkosik of Ottawa and Hilma Keller of Brainerd, Minn.; an uncle; and nieces and nephews. In addition to her first husband, she was preceded in death by a son, James Wheeler; three brothers, two half-brothers and one half-sister. Memorials may be directed to LaMoille Lions Club or LaMoille Clarion Public Library.
