Mary K. Preston, 89, formerly of Mendota, passed away on April 19, 2016 in Omaha, Nebraska with her loving daughter by her side.

Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 5 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Mendota with Rev. Janet Lepp officiating. Burial will follow at Restland Cemetery, Mendota. Visitation will be at 10 a.m., prior to the memorial service in the church. Merritt Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Mary was born August 28, 1926 in Ottawa to Eugene and Katherine (Gonigam) Sartini. She married Robert Preston on March 9, 1962 in Ottawa.

Mary was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Mendota. She graduated from Moline Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing in 1947. A Registered Nurse, Mary worked at Hines Veterans Hospital in Chicago and Des Moines Veterans Hospital. She was in the Cadet Nursing Program.

She is survived by two daughters, Joan (Ted) Sondgeroth of Omaha, NE and Mary Jo (Tom) Tucker of Houston, TX; and three grandchildren, Tiffany Sondgeroth, Andrew Tucker and Garrett Robinson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Preston, on July 11, 2014; parents; two sisters, Dorothy Dobbs and Jean Marie Sartini; and daughter, Nancy Robinson.
