Mary Elizabeth Shaw, 78, of Mendota and formerly of Fairfax, Calif., died Feb. 5, 2012, in Round Rock, Texas, from complications due to a stroke. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota, with the Rev. Michael Morrell officiating. Burial will be at Restland Cemetery, Mendota. She was born Feb. 10, 1933, in Mendota to Charles J. and Violet Mae (Harris) Wolfe Jr. She married William C. Shaw. She attended Mendota elementary schools and Mendota High School. She later graduated from Wesley Memorial Hospital School of Nursing at Northwestern University, Chicago. She worked as a nurse in Chicago, Mendota and San Francisco, Calif., and later became active in philanthropic pursuits. She is survived by her husband, William of Fairfax, Calif.; one son, William J. Shaw of Yorba Linda, Calif.; and one daughter, Elizabeth Shaw Sparks of Round Rock, Texas; and four grandchildren. Memorials may be directed to I Care International Inc., Morris, Il.
