Mary E. Morel Williams, 83, of Mendota Lutheran Home died Dec. 9, 2009, at the home. Services will be at noon Tuesday in Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota. The Rev. Michael Morrell will officiate. Burial will be at Sugar Grove Cemetery, Sugar Grove. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. to noon Tuesday in the funeral home. She was born Feb. 27, 1925, in Hampshire to Erwin and Hazel (Vleet) Clever. She married Gene Morel on Sept. 21, 1943. He died in 1994. Mrs. Williams graduated from Hinckley-Big Rock High School. She owned and operated a decorating and drapery business in Aurora, and also owned and operated several restaurants in the Aurora area. Survivors are two sons, Randy (Connie) Morel of Mendota and Rick (Diane) Morel of Sheridan; three daughters, Lori (David) Brockman-Bennett of Marseilles, Pam Higgins of Rock Island and Cheryl (Joe) Higgins of Montgomery; 22 grandchildren; 41 greatgrandchildren; 11 great-great grandchildren; one sister, Ruth Clever of Dixon; one daughter-in-law, Mary Morel of Sandwich; one sister-inlaw, Margaret Clever of Winter Haven, Fla.; one nephew, Doug (Laurie) Anderson of Yorkville; two nieces, Kristi (Steve) Andersen of Friendship, Wis. and Georgia (Randy) Avery of Petersburg; several greatnieces and great-nephews; and her extended family in Mendota Lutheran Home. She was preceded in death by one son, Gary; one sister, Nancy Anderson; and one brother, George Clever. Memorials may be directed to Mendota Lutheran Home.
