Matilda L. Holbrook, 82, of Mendota, passed away Saturday, April 15, 2023 at Heritage Health, Peru surrounded by her family.

There will be no local services. A private family service will be held at a later date on the Tohono O'odham Indian Reservation in Sells, Arizona. Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota is assisting the family.

Matilda was born May 30, 1940 in Wo'oshon El Bajio, Mexico to Ramon and Marie (Garcia) Campillo, Sr.

Matilda was a member of the United States Army, stationed in Fort Hood Texas where she met her beloved husband Frank. They were married on August 11, 1959 in Kileen, Texas.

Matilda was a member of Holy Cross Church in Mendota. She worked for Conco/Tellus/Spartan Tool in Mendota until her retirement, while she supported her family as a wife and mother of six children.

She is survived by her husband of 63 strenuous but loving years and her children Sarah Schlie of Waupaca, Wisconsin, Sharon Holbrook of Yorkville, Mike (JoAnna) Holbrook of Tucson, Arizona, Sheila (Jeff) Bettner of Mendota, Sylvia (Roberto) Saldana of Montgomery and Sherri (Tony) Jungman of Peculiar, Missouri; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; one sister and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, ten siblings, two great grandchildren and one son in law.
