Matthew J. Waido, 33, of Mendota, passed away December 12, 2021.

Private family services will be held Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota with Father Jeff Windy officiating. Private visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral. Cremation rites will be follow and burial will be private at a later date.

Matthew was born January 6, 1988 in Mendota to Scott and Karen (Prokuski) Waido.

Matthew attended Mendota Schools and graduated from Mendota High School in 2006. He also attended the Institute of Production and Recording. He worked at ENP Inc. in Mendota for several years. Matthew had a great passion for music and recording of music. He was in several bands throughout the years playing local venues, even venturing out to the Chicago area. After work he often could be found fishing at Lake Kakusha, hitting a round of golf or working in his garden. He loved cheering for his Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears and Chicago Blackhawks.

He is survived by his parents; siblings Sarah (Craig) Willmert, Selena Waido and Michael Waido; nieces Aubrey and Annabelle and his maternal grandparents Jerry and Audrey Prokuski.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents.

A Celebration of Life will be planned for a later date at the Mendota Elks Lodge.
