Maurice A. Faber, 92 of Mendota died July 28, 2018 in the Mendota Lutheran Home.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday at the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church of Clarion with Rev. Kevin Weeks officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Friday in the Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota.

Maurice was born June 14, 1926 at the home farm to Clement and Erna (Ultch) Faber. He was baptized July 4,1926 at home, confirmed March 17, 1940 by Pastor Myers at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church. He married Clarice Pohl on December 28, 1947 and celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary together last year.

Maurice attended a country school and was a graduate of Mendota High School. He served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps headquarters and was discharged as a sergeant T.4.. He maintained an active interest in farming all his life. He farmed the family farm west of Mendota until 1999 when they moved to Mendota. He was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church serving in many areas. He served on the National Bank of Mendota board of directors. He was a 4 H leader and served for 23 years on the Clarion Twp. Board serving as a trustee and clerk. He was a member of the Mendota Lions Club, American Legion and was a 63 year member of Elks Lodge 1212.

He is survived by his wife Clarice of Mendota; two sons, Paul (Rose) Faber of LaMoille and Dr. David (Kay) Faber of Sioux Center, IA; 5 grandchildren, Lisa Kelty, Sara Kober, Matt Faber, Daniel Faber, and Dr. Tyler Faber; 6 great-grandsons and 1 great-granddaughter.

He was preceded by his parents and a grandson Brian Faber.

Pallbearers will be the grandchildren.
