Obituary

Maurice "Duke" Jornlin Jr., 79, of Mendota died Sept. 10,
2012, in Mendota Community Hospital.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Merritt Funeral
Home, Mendota with the Rev. Harold Koonce officiating.
Burial will be at Restland Cemetery, Mendota.
Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
He was born Feb. 13, 1933, in La Salle to Maurice and
Viola (Opie) Jornlin. He married Betty Clark on Jan. 20, 1961,
in Chicago. He attended Earlville High School and was a former
member of Mendota Moose Lodge.
He was a self-employed truck driver.
He is survived by two sons, Jeff Jornlin of Mendota and
John Jornlin of Pana; four daughters, Linda (Chad Needs)
Jornlin of Mendota, Mary (Lem) Jones of Dixon, Connie
(John) Schwartzentraub of Eureka and Gerri Johnson of
Morrison; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one
great-great-grandson; one brother, Bob (Lois) Jornlin of
Earlville; one sister, Shirley Hoffman of Columbus, Wis.;
nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife on Oct. 30, 1996.
