Maxine L. Murdock, 91, of Mendota, died Sept. 28, 2009, in Mendota Lutheran Home. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in First United Methodist Church, Mendota, with the Rev. Michael Morrell officiating. Burial will be at Maple Hills Cemetery, Kirksville, Mo. Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Wednesday in Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota. She was born July 16, 1918, in Bucklin, Mo., to Earl and Nellie (McCallum) Green. She married Sam Murdock on Aug. 2, 1941, in Kirksville. She graduated from Kirksville State Teachers College with a bachelor of science degree in elementary education. She taught second grade at Lincoln School in Mendota for 23 years. She was a member of the Illinois Retired Teachers Association, Philanthropic Educational Organization,Order of the Eastern Star and First United Methodist Church. She is survived by her husband of Mendota; one son, David (Mary Beth) Murdock of Bloomingdale; three grandchildren; one greatgrandson; and two nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers. Memorials may be directed to First United Methodist Church, Mendota.
