Melvin Feik, 98, of LaMoille died April 6, 2012, in Mendota Lutheran Home. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Community United Methodist Church, LaMoille. The Rev. Sang Myung Park will officiate. Burial will be at Restland Cemetery, Mendota. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Wednesday in Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota. Mr. Feik was born Oct. 14, 1913, in LaMoille to John and Ella (Althaus) Feik. He married Doris Alshouse on Jan. 6, 1937, in LaMoille. She died in August 1990. He married Marjorie Thompson in December 1992. She died in December 2003. He was a member of Community United Methodist Church since 1927. He previously served for 20 years on LaMoille School Board. He farmed all his life in the LaMoille area before retirement. He raised purebred Duroc hogs and Hereford and Simmental cattle and showed hogs at the Illinois State and Bureau County fairs for 50 years. He was a past member of the Duroc, Hereford & Simmental Association. Survivors are one daughter, Jane Dilbeck of Mendota; one daughter-in-law, Barb Feik of LaMoille; one stepdaughter, Margo (Bill) Phillips of LaMoille; two stepsons, Dennis (Linda) Thompson of Princeton and Larry (Lana) Thompson of New Mexico; five grandchildren; eight stepgrandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; 14 stepgreat-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. He also was preceded in death by one son, Richard "Duke"; one son-in-law, David Dilbeck; and one step-grandson, Jeff Thompson. Memorials may be directed to Community United Methodist Church, LaMoille, Mendota Lutheran Home or Mendota Area Senior Services.
