Michael Sherwood Abel, 37, of Mendota died 2pm May 21, 2017 in a tragic car accident in Troy Grove Township.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. The Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota is handling arrangements.

Michael was born May 12, 1980 in Peru to Steve and Kim (Turnbull) Abel. He graduated from Mendota High School in 1998.

Mike deeply loved his daughter Gianna who he called the love of his life and his fiancé a wonderful, loving, and supportive partner in life. Mike was deeply connected to a great group of friends and his god daughters Eliza and Jaz and his godson Quentin.

He was survived by his daughter Gianna Abel; fiancé Kilian Keene; parents Kim and Steve; sister Stephanie; maternal grandparents Bill and Janet Turnbull and Ruby Turnbull; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Maxine and Sherwood Abel and his amazing Aunt Helen.

Memorials may be directed to Kim and Steve Abel for the establishment of his daughter's education fund.
