Michael Paul Angelo Sr., 67, of Oglesby passed gently away at 7:35 p.m. May 18, 2011, in St. Margaret's Hospital, Spring Valley. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota, with the Rev. Dale Peterson officiating. Burial will be at Restland Cemetery, Mendota. Visitation is one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Michael was born Feb. 3, 1944, in La Salle to Pellegrino and Mary (Cicero) Angelo. He was joined in marriage to Constance Van Meter on April 22, 1961in Ottawa. He worked as a heavy machine operator for road construction. He loved taking the scenic routes in life and driving to no place in particular. His favorite places were the ones with mountains and warm weather. He was a hardworking man and family was very important to him. He was often known to say "daylight's burning" and made the most of every day. Anyone who worked with him whether it was at the jobsite or the homestead, was well versed in his "neat and straight" motto. Survivors include sisters, brothers, his daughter and two sons, grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife in 2002 and one brother, Anthony. Memorials may be directed to the family.
