Michael J. Carlson, 72, of Mendota, passed away unexpectedly on December 6, 2021 in his home.

Visitation will be Friday December 10, 2021  from 5-7 p.m. at the Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota. Private burial will be at Lawnridge Cemetery, Rochelle.

Michael was born March 11, 1949 in Rochelle to Clarence and Mildred (Miller) Carlson.

He was a graduate of Rochelle High School and served in the United States Marines.  He worked as a welder for Caterpillar in Aurora for over 30 years. Mike was a good spirited person concerned about the well-being of everyone. Peace and love to all.

He is survived by his daughter Tonya Carlson of Oregon; son Josh (Beth) Carlson of Wheaton; brother Eugene (Janice) Carlson of Holcomb; four grandchildren Skylar Carlson, Devin Carlson, Adam Carlson and Danielle Carlson; three nephews Mark Carlson of Arizona, Brett (Deb) Carlson of Holcomb and Bradley Carlson of Missouri; grand niece Layla Carlson of Missouri and his cat Hippy.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a son Patrick Carlson.
