Michael L. Mahaffey, 64, of Rochelle died Oct. 23, 2018, in Serenity Hospice, Oregon, Ill.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota with the Rev. Kim Lee-Brown officiating. Burial will be at Restland Cemetery, Mendota. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Michael was born July 14, 1954, in Mendota to Johnand Cora (Kerchner) Mahaffey.

He was a 1972 graduate of Mendota High School andgraduated from Kishwaukee College with a degree in Landscape Design. He was self-employed as a landscapedesign contractor.

He is survived by one daughter, Jessica (Jeff) Mahaffey; three stepdaughters, Heather (Jayson) Newlin, Candace (Jason) Hill and LaShawn Meltzer; one brother, Ronald (Laura) Mahaffey; one grandson, Jacob Lynch; seven stepgranddaughters; two stepgreat-grandsons; and one sister, Denise (Howard) Cromwell.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Micah; and one brother, Tom.
