Mildred L. Morris, 88, of Stonecroft Village, Mendota died Dec. 31, 2010, in Mendota Community Hospital. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota, with the Rev. Michael Morrell officiating. Burial will be at Elm Lawn Cemetery, Princeton. Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. She was born Dec. 5, 1922, in Bogata, Texas, to O.J. And Lallie (Ferguson) Cooper. She married Fred H. Morris on Aug. 19, 1947, in Bogata, Texas. Mrs. Morris received her bachelor of arts degree from Baylor University in Texas and taught U.S. history at Mendota High School for 20 years before retiring in 1984. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Mendota. She is survived by one son, James W. (Corey) Morris of Somerville, Mass.; two daughters, Mary Lee Guthrie of Fairbanks, Alaska, and Susan Morris of Cary, N.C.; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1981 and one brother. Memorials may be directed to her church or Parkinson's Disease Foundation.
