Obituary

Because of trusting in Jesus Christ as her Lord
and personal Savior, Minnie Viola Bodenhamer,
98, of Spring Valley left this world peaceably and
entered her home in heaven at 12:15 a.m. March
19, 2013.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday
in Shooting Park Road Baptist Church, Peru,
with Minnie's grandson, Steve Davis, officiating.
Burial will follow at Abingdon
Cemetery.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m.
Friday in the church and one
hour prior to services Saturday.
Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota
provided the arrangements.
Minnie was born Oct. 18,
1914, in Abingdon to Ira and
Anna Belle Pool, the sixth of 12
children. She married Charles
Bodenhamer on April 29, 1931,
in Princeton.
She owned and operated several cafés throughout
her years. This type of work suited her well
because she was always serving others with unconditional
love. Her greatest joy was being with her
family and giving of herself to them. She was
known for her delicious meals, sewing and gardening.
Minnie loved gospel music, especially the old
hymns.
She was a member of Shooting Park Road
Baptist Church, Peru.
Minnie is survived by three children, Charlotte
Gerald of Kirkwood, Carol Cromwell of LaMoille
and Marilyn Davis of Spring Valley; and many
grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-greatgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband,
Charles in 1989; one daughter, Irene Ecklund in
1976; and one son, Billie Bodenhamer in 2011.
Memorials may be directed to Shooting Park
Road Baptist Church Building Fund.
