Nancy was born November 16, 1936 in LaSalle to Albert and Edna (Amsler) Wood. She married Duane Schiefelbein January 6, 1957 in St. John's Lutheran Church.
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. She worked as a unit secretary for Mendota Community Hospital/OSF St. Paul Medical Center for over 40 years. Nancy was an excellent seamstress and was very artistic. She made all her own curtains, comforters and table linens. She is well known for her famous "bunnies" that she lovingly sewed for family and friends. She was an enthusiastic crafter as well traveling far and wide to find that perfect gift or seasonal home decoration. Nancy also enjoyed spending time with her many friends. She enjoyed Ladies night card club very much and dinner at Rips was always a yes. Holidays were special to Nancy because her house was full of her loved ones. She was a fantastic cook and baker. She enjoyed all the preparation and decorating but really it was just spending time with her family that made her the happiest. She will be missed terribly.
She is survived by two daughters Sara (Mark Stuart) Schiefelbein of Mendota and Susan Mash of Carefree, AZ.; two sons David Schiefelbein and Kevin (Cinthia) Schiefelbein both of Mendota; brother Phillip (Barb) Wood of Sandwich; sister Patricia Lemmer of Huntsville, TX.; five grandchildren Jason (Jennifer) Mash, Tyler Mash, Kurt Stuart, Erica Stuart, and Luke Stuart; and one great grandson Ethan Mash.
She was preceded by her parents, husband in 2010, and two brothers Allen Wood and Gerald Wood.
Memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
