Obituary

Neal Eugene Drummer, 87, of LaMoille, passed away Monday, February 5, 2024 in his home.

Funeral services will be held Friday, February 9, 2024 at the First Congregational Church in LaMoille at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Paul Butler officiating. Burial will be in Greenfield Cemetery, LaMoille. Visitation will be Thursday from 4-7 p.m. in the church. Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota is handling arrangements.

Neal was born July 30, 1936 on the family farm in LaMoille to Eugene and Lenore (Rambo) Drummer.

Neal graduated from LaMoille High School in 1955. He was employed by the LaMoille School District until his retirement. He was a life long member of the First Congregational Church in LaMoille, where he played the organ, and a member of the Northern Illinois Steam Power Club in Sycamore and Central States Thresherman's Reunion Club in Sycamore. He was also active with other tractor shows in Will County, Geneseo and Bos Brothers Historical Farm. For thirty years, using a steam engine, he helped heat the water on Sunday's corn serving for the annual Mendota Sweet Corn Festival. Neal was a member of the Chestnut Light Artillery and was involved in several Civil War reenactments.

Neal is survived by his three sisters Suzi Gott, Linda Jensen and Clarice Bend; nieces and nephews and special friends George McCollum and Sergio Carillo.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Greg and Terry.
