Nick Hoffman, 30, of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. and formerly of Sublette passed away Sunday, Oct. 16, 2011, in Las Vegas, Nev. Nick was born Jan. 15, 1981, in Princeton to Jeff and Becky (Ehmen) Hoffman. He was engaged to Caitlyn Brown of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. He is survived by his parents of Sublette; his sister, Kelly Hoffman of Sublette; his fiancé Caitlyn Brown of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.; his paternal grandmother, Joyce Hoffman of LaMoille; his maternal grandfather, Harlan Ehmen; his maternal stepgrandmother, Alice Ehmen of LaMoille; four aunts and uncles, Laurie (Rich) Joerger of LaMoille, Sherry (Dave) Siragusa of Dunlap, Jeff (Lisa) Ehmen of Madison, Ala., Scott (Elizabeth) Ehmen of Warsaw, Ind.; and six cousins. Nick was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Lee Hoffman; maternal grandmother, Gwen Ehmen; and great-grandparents. The wake will be at Merritt Funeral Home, 800 Monroe St., Mendota, on Sunday, Oct. 23, 2011, from 4-8 p.m. The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in the Community United Methodist Church, 73 N. Main St., LaMoille. Following graveside services at Union Cemetery, LaMoille, will be a dinner served at the church. Nick was a pro motocross mechanic for Michael Byrne, No. 26, Butler Brothers MX of Miami, Fla. He was on business at the Monster Energy Cup in Sam Boyd Stadium, Las Vegas, Nev. when he died unexpectedly. Prior to being a mechanic for Michael, Nick was a professional quad racer. He raced locally at Mendota and Sunset Ridge in Walnut. He was a 1999 graduate of Amboy High School. Nick enjoyed hanging with the Pistole's at Sunset Ridge quite often. He was a huge fan of warm weather and enjoyed spending time on the beach with his fi ancé, Caitlyn. In between traveling for work, Nick liked getting together with family and friends. Nick was very passionate about his job and the people in his life. He will be remembered in the hearts and minds of the many people who knew and loved him!
