Obituary

Norma L. Gallagher, 89, of Mendota died Dec. 11, 2009, in Heritage Manor Nursing Home, Mendota. Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday in Holy Cross Church, Mendota, with the Rev. Gary Blake officiating. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Mendota. Visitation is 2-4 p.m. Sunday with a rosary at 4 p.m. in Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota. She was born Feb. 29, 1920, in Earlville to Clyde and Monona (Gregg) White. She married Louis Gallagher on April 29, 1941, in Paw Paw. She was a member of Holy Cross Church and St. Mary's Altar Society. She worked as a clerk at Gish Jewelry Store in Mendota for many years and also helped in the cafeteria at Holy Cross School. Survivors are one daughter, Maureen (Don) Becker of Mendota; two sons, Richard (Gail) Gallagher of Mendota and Timothy (Michelle) Gallagher of Madison, Wis.; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Marnie (James) Moorelead of Rochelle; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1965; one brother and seven sisters. Memorials may be directed to the activity fund at Heritage Manor Nursing Home or Mendota Area Christian Food Pantry.
