Norman L. Steele, 60, of Arlington died April 23, 2011, in St. Margaret's Hospital, Spring Valley. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Merritt Funeral Home , Mendota , with the Rev. Gene Dawkins officiating. Burial will be at Union Cemetery, LaMoille Township. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home and those attending are welcome to wear Chicago Bears attire. He was born Sept. 17, 1950, in Princeton to Cecil C. and Gladys (Gustafson) Steele. He married Cheryl Dawkins in September 1981 in LaMoille. He was a 1968 graduate of LaMoille High School and was employed by Engineered Storage Products in DeKalb as a welder. He was a member of Teamsters Local 330 in Elgin. He is survived by his wife, Cheryl of Arlington; one son, Greg Steele of Arlington; three daughters, Shelly (Homer) Moyers of Austin, Texas, Sheila (Chris) Taylor of Austin, and Toni (Nick) Lock of La Salle; three grandchildren, Holly and Hannah Moyers and Camryn Lock; one brother, Rich (Shirley) Steele of LaMoille; and one sister, Jan (Bud) Silfies of LaMoille. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Donald. Memorials may be directed to the family for a memorial to be established later.
