Obituary

Olga Esther Stuepfert, 96, a resident of Mendota Lutheran Home, formerly of LaMoille, died Sept. 30, 2010, in Mendota Lutheran Home. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church Clarion, LaMoille. The Rev. Kevin Weeks will officiate. Burial will be at Clarion Cemetery, Clarion Township. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Merritt Funeral Home. Mrs. Stuepfert was born Oct. 23, 1913, in rural Compton to William and Lena (Schmidt) Florschuetz. She married Leroy Stuepfert Sept. 23, 1937. He died Feb. 29, 1996. She was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Ladies Aid/WELCA of the church and church choir. She was a Sunday school teacher for many years. She made baptismal banners for the church. She enjoyed playing her electric organ, crocheting, making picture arrangements of dried flowers and bird watching. She and her husband farmed in the LaMoillearea for many years. She was a resident of Stonecroft Village for almost four years before spending the past two months as a resident of Mendota Lutheran Home. Survivors are one daughter, Annette (Jim) Stamberger of LaMoille; one son, Alan (Barbara) Stuepfert of LaMoille; eight grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; one brother, William Florschuetz of Sublette; two sisters, Gladys (Roland) Zimmerman of Mendota and Ruth Becker of Hudson, Wis.; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; one brother, Edgar; and three sisters, Elva Bauer, Amanda Stuepfert and Mildred Baker. Memorials may be directed to Mendota Lutheran Home or Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church Clarion.
