Oscar G. Pfeiffer, 86, of Mendota Lutheran Home died April 23, 2008, in Mendota Community Hospital. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Bache Memorial Chapel, Van Orin, with the Rev. Lloyd Doyens officiating. Burial will be at Restland Cemetery, Mendota. Visitation is one hour prior to services Saturday in the chapel. Arrangements were provided by Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota. Mr. Pfeiffer was born July 4, 1921, in Sterling to Oscar and Daphne (Cox) Pfeiffer. He married Doris Widmer on Dec. 25, 1941, in Mendota. He served with the U.S. Army in World War II. He was a member of Van Orin Gospel Church and the American Legion. He was manager of Mendota Farmers Elevator, worked for the Chicago Board of Trade and for Illinois Grain in Decatur before his retirement. He is survived by two daughters, Virginia (Charles) Fischer of LaMoille and Barbara Worton of Omaha, Neb.; one son, William (Sharon) Pfeiffer of Mount Zion; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris, on March 24, 2004; a half-sister and a stepsister. Memorials may be directed to Mendota Lutheran Home or American Heart Association.
