Patricia Bonine, 79, of Earlville, died peacefully Saturday, March 23, 2024, at Allure of Mendota after an extended illness.

Patricia Ann (Pat) was born June 27, 1944, in Sandwich, Illinois to Nathan and Elnora (Barnosky) Strouss.

She graduated from Earlville High School in 1962. She married Kenneth A. Bonine on July 25, 1964, at St. Theresa's Catholic Church in Earlville.

Pat was a homemaker and worked at CTS Knights in Sandwich for many years. She and Ken enjoyed being a part of the Marriage Encounter Community and traveling together, where they made good friends easily. Pat was well known for always having coffee, lemonade, and iced tea ready for visitors that would drop in and chat. She loved making popcorn for her grandchildren and was a terrific cook. She enjoyed reading mystery and romance novels, and sitting at the kitchen table with her beta fish watching television. While she was "vertically challenged," her caring and compassionate heart was enormous. She loved her family dearly. Being "Memaw" to her grand and great grandchildren brought her much joy through the years. The memories of her smile, laughter, and love will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by; son Brent (Maria) Bonine of Altamont; daughters Lynn Cwikla of Granville and Lisa (Brian) Bartolazzi of Auburn; ten grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and two great grandchildren to be born this fall; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Carolyn and Denny Neale of Rochelle and beloved dog, Willow.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents, sister Julie, parents-in-law Harry and Nell Bonine, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Fred and Nancy Bonine.

Pat will be cremated in accordance with her wishes with a private service to be held at a later date. Merritt Funeral Home of Mendota is assisting the family with arrangements.
