Obituary

Paul A. Boeing, 81, of Mendota, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family at Heritage Health, Mendota on December 2, 2021.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, December 9, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Cross Church, Mendota with Father Peter Pilon officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Mendota. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. at the Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota with a 4:15 p.m. Rosary. Mask wearing is required and appreciated by the family.
Paul was born February 9,1940 in Breese, IL. to Henry and Irene (Sautman) Boeing. He married the love of his life, Janet Rose on October 19,1963 in Kewanee, IL.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years; two children, Julie (David) Dimitry of Manchester, MO and David (Noreen) Boeing of Purcellville, VA; four grandchildren, Sarah Baker, Bryan Boeing, Hannah Dimitry and Matthew Dimitry; three siblings, Phyllis (Robert) Faust of Aviston, IL, his twin, Peter Boeing of St. Rose IL and John (Donna) Boeing of Palos Heights, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents and in-laws, one brother, Michael, in childhood, one sister, Mary Christ (Jack) and one sister-in- law, Mary Kay Boeing.
Paul grew up on a farm near St. Rose, IL and attended St. Rose grade school. He graduated from Aviston Community High School in 1958. He attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where he graduated in 1963 with a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering. His first job out of college was at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio. His career took the family many places, including Richardson, TX, Mattoon, IL and finally settling in Mendota when he started working for Conco in 1978. He retired in 1999 as Director of Engineering at B&B Electronics in Ottawa. He was a very active retiree and was a member of Mendota Kiwanis and Holy Cross Knights of Columbus and loved to volunteer. He loved fishing and the outdoors, especially bird watching. Paul and Janet spent 17 winters in Harlingen, Texas where they made many friends from all over the country and had lots of adventures.
Memorials may be directed to Holy Cross Church or the Illinois Audubon Society.
