Paul E. Emmert, 86, of Spring Valley, formerly of Mendota, died on July 21, 2008, in La Salle Health Care Center. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 29 in Grace United Methodist Church, La Salle, the Rev. Jennifer Wilson officiating. Burial will be at Chadwick Cemetery. Visitation will take place one hour before services in the church. Mr. Emmert was born on March 19, 1922, in Mount Carroll to Paul and Ruth (Zorn) Emmert. He married Lois Hartman on Dec. 3, 1949. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He owned and operated Bowl Air Lanes in Mendota from 1964-1982. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and Mendota VFW Post 4079. He was a past member of Mendota Moose and Elk lodges. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Judy (Dennis) Shaver of Spring Valley, Sharon Barlow of Phoenix, Ariz., and Sandra (Richard) Brenner of Arkansas.; one son, Randall (Dawn) Emmert of Indianapolis, Ind.; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Hal (Reva) Emmert of Portland, Ore.; one sister, Helen (Dale) Shires of Iowa City, Iowa. He was preceded in death by one daughter and two sisters. Memorials may be directed to Grace United Methodist Church.
