Paul A. Ortega, 68, of Mendota passed away September 19, 2021 in his home.

Funeral services will be Friday, September 24, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at Faith Church, Peru with Rev. Steve Adamson officiating. Burial will be in Restland Cemetery, Mendota. Visitation will be Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota.

Paul was born June 4, 1953 in Canon City, Colorado to Rueben M. and Minnie C. (Orozco) Ortega.

Paul retired from Ridley Feed in 2018 where he loyally worked for 44 years beside a group of men and women he considered family. He faithfully served on the sound team at Faith Assembly of God, Peru. Above all things, he was his grandchildren's greatest cheerleader. He loved his Sip n' Snack, coffee, Green Bay Packers, Boston Celtics and most of all he loved his boys. In his last years he reunited with his first love, aka grandma Quana Simpson "Quan Quan".

He is survived by his wife Quana Ortega of Mendota; sisters Christine M. Ferrell of Hillsboro, TN., and Carmen A. (Steve) Olsen of Sheffield; sons Chet A. (Jessica) Ortega of Spring Valley, Jared L. Ortega and Travis Ortega both of Mendota and 3 grandchildren Andrea Mae Ortega, Neil Evan Ortega and Nicholas Favre Ortega.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Reuben Aley Ortega, Jr., daughter Andrea Jo Ortega and wife Lora (Freeman) Ortega.
