Richard L. Becker, 70, of Mendota passed away the morning of Nov. 20, 2016 at OSF Saint Paul Medical Center in Mendota. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in Holy Cross Church, Mendota with Rev. Joel Phelps officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 3-7 p.m. at the Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota with the Rosary said at 2:30p.m.

Rich was born January 31, 1946, in Mendota to Robert C. and Sue L. (Baird) Becker.  He married Janet (Auchstetter) Dewey on June 12, 1968, in Holy Cross Church, Mendota.

He was a construction foreman for A.G. Frey and Son's Inc. and the Doden Silo Company.  He also worked in fuel sales and distribution for the Gromann Service Company.  In retirement he worked for Prescott Brothers Inc. auto dealership and the Mendota Township High School as a bus driver.  He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, friends, fishing and watching the Green Bay Packers.

He is survived by his wife Janet of Mendota; five children, Doug (Jodie) Dewey of Bloomington, IL, Bryon (Anne) Becker of Elmhurst, IL, Andrea (Mike) Goth of Deer Park, Eric (Veronica) Becker of Mendota, Pat (Kelly) Becker; brother Howard (Barb) Becker of Seneca, IL; 10 grandchildren; Bridget, Nick, Logan, Shannon, Nate, Maraid, Maddie, Drew, Olympia, and Sawyer and 10 nieces and nephews.

Rich was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Jim (Ann) Becker.
