Richard James Gambler, 82, of Mendota, passed away Wednesday, July 2, 2026, at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford. He was born August 26, 1943, in Montpelier, OH, the son of John and Mildred (nee Gibbs) Gambler. He married Suzanne on July 28, 2016.

Richard proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He worked at Motor Wheel for 25 years as a quality control inspector. He then became the videographer at Mendota High School, videotaping all of the high school sports.

Richard is survived by his wife, Suzanne; two daughters, Michelle Carter and Melinda (James) Melvin; four grandchildren, Paige, Sarah, Kyra, and Elijah; and many great-grandchildren.

Richard is preceded in death by his parents and several siblings.
