Richard Milazzo, 86, of Mendota, passed away September 25, 2022 at Allure of Prophetstown.

Richard was born April 26, 1936 in Kangley to Angelo and Nellie (Alberts) Milazzo. He was raised by Benjamin and Mary (Granfield) Hochstatter who preceded him in death.

Richard was a 1954 graduate of Mendota High School. He was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War. He worked at Wayside Press in Mendota for over from 1965-1985. He made candy at the Kitch-Inn from 1985 until it closed. He also tended bar at Frizol's from 1970-1980. He designed the annual Christmas ornaments for the City of Mendota. Rich was a professional grade painter and artist who worked with oils, acrylics, colored pencils and felt tips. He did a lot of wildlife and nature pictures and did some paintings with August Holland. He loved collecting old guns and taking daily walks since he quit driving 25 years ago. He ate almost daily at Parkway Restaurant and will be sadly missed by his Parkway friends.

He is survived by several cousins and several close friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Ron Milazzo.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at 2:30 p.m. at Holy Cross Cemetery, Mendota with Father Jeff Windy officiating. Military honors will be conducted by Mendota VFW Post 4079. Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota is handling arrangements.
