Richard Myers, 73, of 146 N. 46th Road, Mendota died July 17, 2007, in Mendota Community Hospital. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Holy Cross Church, Mendota, with the Rev. Fredi Gomez Torres officiating. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Mendota, with military rites by VFW Post 4079. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Friday in the Merritt Funeral Home. Mr. Myers was born Jan. 28, 1934, in Angier Hospital, Sublette, to Harold Frank and Lois Catherine (Stephenitch) Myers. He married Theresa Mae Auchstetter on Aug. 18, 1956. He was a member and usher at Holy Cross Church. He attended St. Mary?s Catholic School in Sublette and graduated from St. Bede Academy High School in 1952 where he was a member of the Golden Bears. He joined the U.S. Army in August 1954 and was discharged in May 1956. He was employed as a milk truck driver, farmed 80 acres, worked at Scott Wood & Metal, drove a feed truck for Fasco Mills for 27 years and received the Midwest Truckers Association Safe and Courteous Driver Award and logged 43 years of trucking without a moving violation. He is survived by his wife; four sons, John (Dawn) and Patrick (Rhonda), both of Mendota, Joseph (Shawn) and Andrew, both of Sublette; three daughters, Catherine (Mike) Zinke of Lenexa, Kan., Suzanne (Roger) Greathouse of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Margaret (Jim) Halbmaier of Mendota; 14 grandchildren; and nieces and nephews; four sisters, Joan (Delmer) Dinges of Sublette, Sandra (Dean) Considine of Dixon, Paula (Patrick) Harmon of Dixon and Lu Ann (Thomas) Bennett of Dixon; two brothers, Donald (Janet) Myers of Anaheim, Calif., and Jeffrey (Colleen) Myers of Sublette; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother who died in infancy. Memorials may be directed to American Cancer Society or the donor?s choice.
