Richard A. Nemecek, 86, of Mendota, formerly of Paw Paw, died July 29, 2017 at OSF St. Paul Medical Center, Mendota.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church, Mendota with Rev. Anne Hoflen officiating. Burial will be at Restland Cemetery, Mendota with military honors by Mendota VFW Post 4079. Visitation will be one hour prior to services in the church. Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota is handling arrangements.

Richard was born May 15. 1931 in Berwyn, Illinois, to Edward and Ida (Bending) Nemecek. He married Alice J. Campbell Dec. 26, 1953, in Downers Grove.

Richard was a Chicago Union Carpenter. He was Marine veteran of the Korean War and received the National Defense Service medal.

He is survived by two daughters, Diane (Jerry) Denault of Mendota and Dawn (Fred) Menke of DeKalb; two granddaughters, Caroline (Kim Doll) Awe and Michaela Denault; several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife in 2012, one brother and one sister.
