Richard Paul Sibigtroth, 69, of LaMoille, Illinois, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2026.
Rich was born on January 6, 1957 in Mendota, IL to Edwin and Marjorie Sibigtroth. On June 13, 1981, he married the love of his life, Nancy Ann Faber, beginning a marriage filled with love, family, and countless memories together. This June would have marked their 45th wedding anniversary.
Rich was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Sibigtroth; his son, Justin Sibigtroth and significant other Tina Dolder; his daughter, Karla Petersen and significant other Adam Helm; and his cherished granddaughters, Lily and Raegan Petersen. He also leaves behind his beloved dog, Holly, who was always close by his side.
Rich drove a truck for over 30 years for Didier Trucking in LaMoille, River Bend Transportation in Hennepin, Roadway Trucking in LaSalle, and AgView FS in LaMoille. After retirement, he drove for various farmers in the area. He enjoyed the simple things in life and was happiest when keeping busy or watching his old westerns. You could often find him at an auction, toy show, or farm sale with a soda in one hand, a sandwich in the other, and a candy bar in his pocket; always searching for the next hidden treasure. He was known as one of the largest 1/64th die-cast semi-truck toy collectors in the state, a hobby he took great pride in and truly enjoyed sharing with others. When he wasn’t out hunting for collectibles, he was often in the shop working on projects or spending time restoring and working on his John Deere tractors.
Rich appreciated hard work, good conversation, and time spent with family. He was known for doing things his own way but his quiet presence, sense of humor, and the way he could always stay busy doing something he loved will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Though our hearts are heavy, we will forever hold onto the memories, laughter, and love Rich shared with those around him.
He will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered always.
He is also survived by 7 siblings, Linda Genore, Ralph (Diana) Sibigtroth, Virginia Orndorff, David (Merry) Sibigtroth, Michelle (Thomas) Steinkamp, Charles (Barbara) Sibigtroth, and Thomas (Karen) Sibigtroth; and oodles of nieces and nephews
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Barbara Sibigtroth, and two brothers-in-law, Thomas Genore and Eugene Orndorff.
The funeral will be held at 4:00 P.M. Saturday, May 30, 2026, at Zion Lutheran Church of Clarion, 27182 County Rd 3320 E, in LaMoille, with Pastor Sarah Floyd officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00 P.M. until the time of the service on Saturday at the Church. Interment will follow in Clarion Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Rich's memory may be directed to the family for a memorial to be established. Please visit www.horner-merritt.com to sign the online guest book.
