Rita M. Todd, 70, of Mendota died April 4, 2009, in her residence. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota, with the Rev. Larry Sheaves officiating. Burial will be at Troy Grove Cemetery. Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. She was born Sept. 19, 1938, in Mendota to Earl and Violet (Stevenson) Kreiser. She married Eugene Todd on Dec. 9, 1983. She was employed by Sam's Steakhouse in Mendota for 24 years and Heritage Manor Nursing Home for 23 years. She is survived by one daughter, Rebecca Scroggin of Escondido, Calif.; five grandchildren, Violet, Able, Gregory, Emma Rose and Ginger; one great-grandson, Jacob; one brother, Kenneth (Mildred) Kreiser of Utica; two sisters, Lois (Leonard) Edgcomb of Troy Grove and Marie (Charles) Emerick of Bella Vista, Ark.; nieces and nephews; and her former husband, Robert Kussman of Antioch. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene, in April 1999; and her parents. Memorials may be directed to Helping Cats Fund, in care of Mendota Animal Companion Centre.
