Robert Anderson, 82, of Mendota died April 19, 2008, in Heritage Manor Nursing Home, Mendota. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in St. John?s Lutheran Church, Mendota, with the Rev. Dale Peterson officiating. Burial will be at Restland Cemetery with military rites by VFW Post 4079. Visitation is one hour prior to services Tuesday in the church. Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota, assisted the family with arrangements. Mr. Anderson was born Jan. 2, 1926, in Wayne City to Russell and Edna (Thomason) Anderson. He married Larieta Faber on Feb. 10, 1951. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II in the European Theater of Operations. He was a member of St. John?s Lutheran Church, Elks Lodge 1212 and was employed by Farm Supply as a truck driver and later by Mendota Golf Club. He is survived by two sons, James (Julie) Anderson of LaMoille and Douglas (Jill) Anderson of Paw Paw; two grandchildren; three brothers, Morris Anderson of Plantation City, Fla., Donald (Marie) Anderson of Naples, Fla., and Gary (Dixie) Anderson of LaMoille; three sisters,Wilma Richards of Fairfield, Mary (Charles) Erbes and Phyllis (Harold) Hitchins, both of Mendota; nieces and nephews, and special friend Delphine Dalton of Mendota. He was preceded in death by his wife on Oct. 1, 1999. Memorials may be directed to St. John?s Lutheran Church or Heritage Manor Nursing Home.
