Robert J. Becker Jr., 57, of Mendota died Dec. 6, 2009, in Mendota Community Hospital. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in First Presbyterian Church, Mendota, with his aunt, the Rev. Phyllis Reed of Fairport, N.Y., and the Rev. Dale Dykstra officiating. Burial will be at Troy Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday in Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota. Mr. Becker was born Sept. 17, 1952, in Mendota to Robert J. and Dorothy (Stevenson) Becker. He married Jill Hutchinson Kern on Feb. 21, 1992, in Ottawa. He was employed by Schimmer Inc. in Mendota for 30 years, most recently as service manager. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Mendota, Mendota Moose Lodge and Elks Lodge 1212. Survivors are his wife; one son, Robert J. Becker of Kemah, Texas; one daughter, Jennifer (Ryan) Miars of Fisher; one stepson, Jared (Alli Noffsinger) Kern of Mendota; two stepdaughters, Jennifer Kern of Mendota and Jami (Joseph) LaJoy of Round Lake Beach; eight grandchildren, Zoe, Zackary and Eva Becker, Evelyn Kern and Aaliyah, Karliann, Korinne and Kara Miars; his mother, Dorothy Becker of Mendota; three sisters, Sue (Kevin) Kilanowski of Mendota, Karen (Matthew) Nordman of Arlington Heights and Kathleen (Lou) Avvisati of Arlington Heights; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and brother, John. Memorials may be directed to American Diabetes Association, National Kidney Foundation or the donor's choice.
