Robert "Bob" Edgar Cromwell, 88, of LaMoille, IL passed away July 23, 2024.

Bob was born on June 1, 1936, IL the son of Lawrence and Melinda (Mathesius) Cromwell. He married Ann Dunseth on September 18, 1955 in Perkins Grove Church, LaMoille.

Bob worked as a tool and die machinist and held many positions at Conco, Inc. in Mendota for 41 years. He had a passion for mechanics and working with his hands tinkering, he loved to fabricate things. He was a member of the Mendota Elks Club, a Volunteer fireman, policeman, ambulance, Civil Defense in LaMoille over the many years. He was also an officer in the Conco Credit Union and a deacon in the LaMoille Congregational Church of LaMoille. Bob and Ann owned and operated "The Cromwell family Store" in LaMoille for 21 years, making the best vanilla & cherry fountain sodas ever. Bob was always willing with community service in the town with plowing, mowing and any other projects needed. They loved donating cinnamon rolls to the LaMoille grade school. He had a wealth of knowledge for family history and loved sharing the Word of God. Family was important and he spent as much time with them as he could.

He is survived by his wife Ann (Dunseth) Cromwell of 68 years; four children, Pam (Kevin) Rossler, Jim, Greg and Larry (Julie) Cromwell. Grandchildren: Dale (Jess) Barr, Stephen (Kelly), Kaleb, Collin (Erika) Cromwell, Rylee (Nolan) Schuhler and Raygan Cromwell and Joe Lowder. Step grand-children; Stacey (Frank) Bollinger and Shanna (Dave) Cruse and many great grandchildren, nieces & nephews. One brother-in-law Jim (Sandy) Dunseth

Bob was preceded in death by his parents and three children, Robert, Debra and Dennis and one granddaughter Tricia. One sister, Jean Savage; three brothers; Marvin, Kenny and Richard. His in laws; Art and Esther Dunseth.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Monday August 5, 2024 at First Congregational Church of LaMoille. The family would like to express their gratitude to Pastor Paul Butler for his support during this difficult time. Cremation rites have been accorded. Burial will be held at Greenfield Cemetery at a later date. Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota is assisting the family.
