Obituary

Robert S. Harper, 48, of Compton died May 16, 2010, in Mendota Community Hospital. Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Joliet, with full military honors. Visitation will be 3-5 p.m. Sunday in Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota. He was born Oct. 10, 1961, in San Francisco, Calif., to William and Nancy (Brown)Harper. He married Laurie Hoffman. He was a volunteer with the Compton Fire Department. He retired from the U.S. Air Force in 2004 after 21 years. He is survived by his wife; three sons, Sean, Jeremy and Kevin Harper, all of Hinesville, Ga.; one stepson, Trey Bratcher of Compton; two stepdaughters, Taylor Bratcher of Compton and Christina Williamson of Mendota; his father, William "Bill" Harper of Quitman, Ark.; one sister, Lynn (Mike) Haas of Richmond, Va.; and two brothers, Chip (Cathy) Harper of Little Rock, Ark. and Steve (JoAnne) Harper of Scottsdale, Ariz. He was preceded in death by his mother. Memorials may be directed to the family.
