Robert J. Lohr, 89, of Mendota, formerly of Compton, died July 9, 2010, in Mendota Community Hospital. Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota, with the Rev. Michael Morrell officiating. Burial will be at Melugin Cemetery, Brooklyn Township. Visitation will be one hour prior to services Thursday at the funeral home. Mr. Lohr was born Sept. 5, 1920, in Bay City, Mich., to Herbert and Mabel (Smith) Lohr. He married Anna Avram who preceded him in death. He later married Delphine Sikorski; she also preceded him in death. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II. Survivors are two daughters, Robert (William) Horyn of Compton and Beverly Clounch of Rodeo, Calif.; two sons, Robert Lohr of Au Gres, Mich., and Gerald (Lana) Lohr of Richmond, Calif.; one stepson, Donald Lohr of Michigan; 10 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; four sisters, Roberta VanDuesen of Bay City, Geraldine Smithingell of Bay City, Juanita Trudeau of Flint, Mich., and Dorothy Granger of Flint, Mich.; and one brother, Marshall Lohr of Au Gres. In addition to his wives, he was preceded in death by three brothers. Memorials may be directed to the donor's choice.
