Obituary
Robert (Bob) William Martin, 97, of Mendota, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 8, 2022.
He was born November 12, 1924 in Ottawa to Magnus and Anna Martin. Robert was one of six children and attended school in Ottawa. He was raised on a farm and enjoyed farming as his profession.
On January 19, 1947 he married the love of his life, Helen Jane Anderson. They farmed for 35 years near Mendota. During this time they raised their three children. After retiring they moved to Rockford where they worked with the Rockford Apartment Association for five years.
Robert has been a resident at Heritage Health for the past nine years. He was loved and known for his sense of humor, funny hats, beads and overall kindness. His favorite past times have been puzzles, word searches, attending church and all activities outside the facility.
Robert is survived by his children David Martin and wife Deb of Mendota, Cynthia Martin of Freeport and Rebecca Foster of Alaska; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Per Robert's wishes, no services will be held. Merritt Funeral Home. Mendota assisted the family with arrangements.
