Robert Douglas Schwartz, 56, of Garfield, Ky., formerly of Arlington, died Oct. 14, 2010, in Indianapolis, Ind. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota, with the Rev. Michael Morriell officiating. Burial will be at Lutheran Cemetery, Mendota, with military rites by VFW Post 4079. Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Monday in the funeral home. Mr. Schwartz was born Aug. 21, 1954, in Norfolk, Va., to Clifford Schwartz and Rosemary Younglove Schwartz Lieving. He married Judy Crawley on June 26, 1997. He was a 1973 graduate of LaMoille High School. He served with the U.S. Marine Corps and was a reservist with the U.S. Navy. He was employed as a union carpenter and member of Local 64 carpenters union. At the time of his death he was working on a construction project in Indianapolis. He is survived by his wife, Judy of Garfield; one daughter, Hannah Schwartz of Garfield; three sons, Jason Schwartz of Spring Valley, Adam Schwartz of Garfield, and Kyle Schwartz of Garfield; two grandchildren, Abbygail and Alyssa Schwartz, both of Spring Valley; two sisters, Janet (Neil) Magnuson of Valparaiso, Ind., and Peggy (Mark) McMurray of Lakeland, Fla.; one brother, Jeffrey Schwartz of Lakeland, Fla.; and his stepfather, Herm Lieving of Rock Island. He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorials may be directed to the donor's choice.
