Obituary

Robert L. Setchell, 88, of Mendota died Feb. 10, 2016, in Mendota Lutheran Home.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in First United Methodist Church, Mendota with the Rev. Michael Morrell officiating. Burial will be at Restland Cemetery, Mendota with military rites by Mendota VFW Post 4079.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to services Saturday in the church. Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota provided the arrangements.

He was born March 30, 1927, in Daggett, Mich., to George E. and Faith (Crandall) Setchell. He married Joyce Shannon on June 14, 1952, in Mendota. He served with the U.S. Air Force 1945-1949.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Mendota, Mendota Lions Club and Mendota Elks Lodge 1212.

He served as a May Township trustee. In 1992 he and his wife received the Lee County Soil and Water Conservation Family Farm Award. He farmed all his life in the Dimmick and Sublette areas.

Bob is survived by his wife, Joyce; three daughters, Deb (Mike) Loebach of La Salle, Cheryl (Don) King of LaMoille and Leesa (Jim) Burke of Sublette; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one brother, David Setchell of Sublette.

He was preceded in death by one son, Brian in infancy; and two brothers, Jacque and Bruce Setchell.
