Robert "Bob" J. Thompson, 67, passed away unexpectedly on October 2, 2022 at his home in Mendota.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 8, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. in the Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota with Rev. Mary Bohall officiating. Burial will be in Troy Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until time of services.
Bob was born on January 18, 1955 in LaSalle to Robert and Doris (Nance) Thompson.
Bob was a 1973 graduate of Lasalle-Peru High School. He worked at Manley Brothers in Troy Grove for 46 years. Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, cutting wood, and watching football. He was an outdoorsman, an expert craftsman who loved woodworking, and truly enjoyed spending time with his family.
Bob is survived by the love of his life of 43 years, Jackie Shaver, of Mendota; Jackie's daughter Kim (Jeff) Scheppers-Flanagan of Mendota who considered him a Dad and confidant; four grandchildren Brandon (Alyssa) Scheppers of Mendota, Cody (Katie Falbo) Scheppers of Los Angeles, CA, Kalli (Zach Golding) Scheppers of Fairview Heights, IL and Colton (Jessica Valdez) Scheppers of Johnstown, CO; two great-grandchildren Hadley and Tate Scheppers; brothers Don (Donna) Thompson of Oglesby, Jim Thompson of Winchester, VA, Larry (Denise) Thompson and Mark (Chris) Thompson both of Oglesby; numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Richard T. Thompson, and his son-in-law Bill Scheppers.
