Funeral services will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in the Merritt Funeral Home with Rev. Mary Bohall officiating. Burial will be in Restland Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Roberta, or "Roby" as she was sometimes affectionately called, was born January 30, 1922 in Clarion Township to Gilbert and Settie (Allex) Bauer.
Her life began on the farm, which was also where her love of horses started. During the depression, her family moved into Mendota. She graduated from Mendota High School in 1941. Her best friend growing up was her older brother, Merle.
During WWII, she moved to Chicago and worked for the Civil Service in the War Department. After the war, her and Howard Fahler met, fell in love and were married on July 11, 1946. They had two beautiful daughters, Meredith and Patricia.
Roberta loved unconditionally; horses, jazz music, dancing, friends, country rides and her family. Through her faith, she gracefully tackled all that life gave her. She was an extraordinary person that inspired and touched the lives of everyone she met.
"Roby" is survived by her two grandsons, Bryce and Dana Vicich and three granddaughters, Ella, Edith and Lucy Vicich.
She was preceded by her husband Howard in 2012, and her two daughters Pat (Fahler) Vicich and Meredith (Fahler) Knopf.
Memorials maybe directed to First United Methodist Church, Mendota Area Senior Services or Mendota Lutheran Home.
